Biography of Tracey Duncan
Tracey Duncan was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. As
many other great artists from the highly acclaimed musical city
Philadelphia, her musical talent was shining through from the early age
of 5 while playing drums at the local Pentecostal Church Service. Over
the next decades, her love and joy for God formed an integral part in
her musical up bringing and has been always the anchor of her soul. Various
choirs and gospel workshops defined and shaped her style and love for
music, which led her to join in 1988 the Delaware State Gospel Choir. A
big highlight in her young career came when she joined the R&B Band
T.A.B.U. with whom she helped arranging and performing two songs in
front of 2.3 million crowd, for The Million Woman March in October 25th
1997 in Philadelphia. Being exposed and accepted in front of such a big crowd, proved to be a life changing experience for Tracey Duncan. A star was born and life in show business is since then her destiny. Her
sheer joy and love for music, her captivating rhythm, her lively
personality as well as great dancing style and energy captivated
audiences all over America. It was only a matter of time before
Tracey Duncan took on new challenges by expanding her musical horizon
and went on to charm the European audience with her unique versatile
style of entertainment. Meanwhile, Tracey Duncan took every
opportunity to increase her musical skills by working together with
world known musicians and teachers, like Johnny Crooms, Musical
Director from Boyz 2 Men, Timmy Huttons, drummer for Regina Bell and
Grover Washington, E-man for The Stylistics and Kofi, percussionist for
Soul II Soul, to refine and enhance her already outstanding skills. New
opportunities arose in Europe, where she worked and toured with various
solo artists and bands, like Natalie Makoma 2003 (backing vocals),
Spike 1998(drums), Fettes Brot (toured with) 1999, as well as several
gospel groups like Golden Gospel Singers 2002, America’s Voices of
Gospel (vocals & drums) and other bands, such as Deep Blue Flame
2001. She toured and plays with the "Damen Orchester Salome" since
2002, worked with the Mother Luv Funk Band in the summer of 1998 and
the legendary Weather Girls 2006.
But a real highlight
came for Tracey Duncan when she had the opportunity to work with a true
legend of German and worldwide entertainment the Polydor recording
artist James Last. She toured with him for the first time in 1999
playing percussions and was singing background and dancing. Meanwhile
Tracey Duncan has become an integral member of the orchestra and is
touring extensively throughout Europe and had the pleasure of joining
the orchestra on their premier tour of the P.R. of China in 2002.
But
being a singer, drummer and dancer alone is not where it stops with the
exceptional artist Tracey Duncan. And doing movies, seemed to be just a
natural move. Because it was in this medium, where her strong artistic
expression shines through the best. She can be seen in two major
Hollywood movie productions like Joe Meets Max, starring Til Schweiger
and Half Past Dead, starring Steven Segal and JaRule and in Charlize
Theron upcoming movie Aeonflux. Some other exceptional
opportunities came for Tracey Duncan, when receiving an offer to play
drums and perform her theatrical skills alongside one of Germany’s
Legends of show business, Ron Williams in the musical production: The
Genius of Soul: One Night of Ray Charles. She also received invitations
to play for Germany’s Gospel Awards Show aired live in 2002 playing
drums with the house band and The Voices of Gospel. In 2006 she
did a few shows with The Very Best of Black Gospel. one of UK’s R&B
top soul artist Craig David at the Olympia Halle aired live in Munich
on the Stephan Rapp Show in 2007. She was then offered to sing on tour
with the Jackson Singers in 2007 and played for a cover Led Zeppelin
band. She had the opportunity to sing on tour with the David A.
Tolbin Singers in 2008 and 2009. Tracey was also called to for a show
with the German President to be aired on ZDF for a Christmas special
with Queen Ester and the Harlem Gospel Singers in 2010. Later
that year she became a member of the drumming school, Drum Factory in
spring of 2010, which is now the Drum Education Center. Tracey then
received a call to play drums with the Barry White Tribute Band in 2011
in Turkey. She sang and played drums with Donna Brown and The
Gospel Pearls since 1999 till present. They were featured on The Voice
of Germany for 4 shows in 2012 during the groups 20th year of
performing. She also shot a music video for the legendary Queen
Yahanna in the spring of 2012 and she received her very first
endorsement deal from District Drum Company to expand her skills.
Tracey will continue to tour with James Last in the spring of 2013. Being
a singer, drummer, dancer and actress are just a few facets of the many
talented musical artist. As her journey continues, by captivating her
